The Omanhene of Akyem-Dome in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region, Osaberimah Amoako Affum II has called for an urgent call to entice them into agriculture noting that with the involvement of the youth in Agriculture, there would be an increased hope for a more prosperous future for all.
Berimah Amoako Affum II was addressing Vision1 Fm / Light TV in the Eastern Region after designating hundred archer of land in Akyem Dome for the plantation of palm-trees and other crops by the Youth. Barima Amoako said this will revive the agricultural sector and will boost the local economy and also help reduce the growing unemployment rate in the country. Barima Amoako said the success of such global efforts to ensure food security and sufficiency would not be achieved without the participation of the Youth in Ghana.
Barima Amoako who is also a Farmer said the future belongs to the Youth and must be encouraged to venture into agriculture now for the future. Agriculture, He said is the backbone of every local economy. Due to this, governments try to invest in the agricultural sector to boost the economy. Osaberimah Amoako Affum II is calling on the Government and the Agric minister to design policies that will make the sector attractive to the youth to venture into agricbussiness.
Nana added that this move, when embarked on will create sustainable employment for many Ghanaians, especially the youth and will help reduce the rising unemployment in the country. Osaberimah Amoako Affum made the appeal in a press briefing ahead of the 37th National Farmers Day celebration in Ghana.
