President John Dramani Mahama is set to participate in the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon, following which he will engage in bilateral discussions with President Macron at the Elysée Palace in Paris.
President Mahama arrived in France on Monday, April 6, 2026, upon the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron.
As the founder and key proponent of the Accra Reset Initiative, President Mahama will co-chair the High-Level segment of the One Health Summit alongside President Macron on Tuesday.
The Summit gathers global leaders, health ministers, and health experts to deliberate on urgent matters concerning global health systems, sustainable food production, and collaborative strategies to tackle health challenges.
A statement issued by the Presidency and signed by Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Monday indicated that the visit will commence with President Mahama’s involvement in the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon, a significant global event centered on health systems, food security, and coordinated responses to worldwide health issues.
During the summit, President Mahama will also present two keynote addresses. The first will take place at a session focused on global health architecture, co-chaired by President Macron and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization.
In his second address, the President will articulate Ghana’s stance on global health security and emphasize the nation’s commitments to addressing emerging health challenges.
Following the summit, President Mahama will travel to Paris on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, for bilateral discussions with President Macron at the Élysée Palace.
The two leaders are expected to explore ways to enhance Ghana-France relations and broaden cooperation in critical areas such as health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.
