President John Dramani Mahama has announced initiatives to upgrade the Asutsuare Training Camp into a premier military training center, aimed at bolstering Ghana’s security readiness.
During a brief ceremony on Friday, March 28, 2025, where he received a courtesy visit from the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Major General William Agyapong, along with other security leaders, President Mahama reaffirmed his government’s dedication to enhancing the nation’s military infrastructure.
He assured the security officials that there would be an increase in budgetary provisions for the military, which would support the procurement of advanced equipment and resources for enhanced operational effectiveness.
Additionally, he encouraged them to seek innovative financing solutions to improve infrastructure, particularly in terms of accommodations for personnel.
“Your budget will be augmented to allow for the acquisition of new and additional platforms and assets to strengthen your operations. I also urge you to consider creative financing options to enhance infrastructure and training, especially regarding troop housing.
“I will support you throughout this process. We are already in the process of transforming the Asutuare Training Camp into a top-tier training facility,” President Mahama emphasized.
