President John Dramani Mahama has formally inaugurated the construction of the New Float Glass Manufacturing Company in Shama, characterizing the initiative as a significant achievement in Ghana’s industrial evolution.
During the event, organized by KEDA (Ghana) Ceramics Company Limited on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, President Mahama also launched the fifth phase of the company’s tile production line and commissioned a state-of-the-art sanitary wares factory.
“Once fully operational, the float glass facility will have a daily production capacity of 1,400 tons of glass, making it one of the largest in Africa,” he stated.
The President underscored the economic implications of the project, indicating that it is anticipated to decrease imports, generate approximately $100 million in annual exports, enhance local supply chains, create sustainable job opportunities, and significantly boost national revenue through taxation.
President Mahama encouraged the management and staff to “regard the factory as your own,” emphasizing that Ghana’s industrialization will thrive when “the government ensures stability, investors provide capital, and communities foster strong partnerships.”
He further asserted that “Made-in-Ghana products can compete on a global scale when propelled by skill, innovation, and unwavering quality.”
