President John Dramani Mahama has implemented disciplinary measures against political appointees who did not adhere to the mandatory asset declaration deadline of March 31, 2025.
The President stated that the Auditor General’s report indicated non-compliance among certain appointees within his administration. Consequently, he has mandated that these officials forfeit three months’ salary, which will be contributed to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
‘On February 18, 2025, I established a deadline of March 31 for all appointees taking office or being nominated to declare their assets. An update from the Auditor General to my office has revealed that some of you did not meet this deadline.
Therefore, all those appointed or nominated prior to March 31, 2025, who failed to comply, will forfeit three months’ salary to be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, which bears my name, Mahama Cares.
Additionally, I have requested that all appointees contribute one month’s salary to the Mahama Cares Trust Fund.
This means that those who neglected to declare their assets by the deadline will be contributing a total of four months’ salary to Mahama Cares,’ he stated.
President Mahama also warned that any appointees who do not declare their assets by May 7, 2025, will face dismissal.
