President John Dramani Mahama has revealed plans to enhance access to higher education by establishing three new public universities throughout the nation.
In an effort to promote balanced regional development and address the increasing demand for quality tertiary education, two universities will be created through international collaborations: one in Kintampo, located in the Bono East Region, and another in Jasikan, situated in the Oti Region.
Furthermore, during the State of the Nation Address delivered in Parliament on Friday, February 27, President Mahama disclosed that funding from China has been obtained to create a public university in Damongo, which is in the Savannah Region.
“To enhance access to higher education and foster balanced regional development while addressing the growing demand for quality tertiary education, we have engaged in international partnerships to establish two new public universities. One will be located in Kintampo in the Bono East Region, and the other in Jasikan in the Oti Region.
“I am also pleased to announce that we have secured a grant from China to establish a new public university in Damongo, situated in the Savannah Region,” he stated.
