Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has threatened to terminate contracts with non-performing contractors under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP).
He added that the contractors fail to deliver despite getting payments from the ministry to conduct crucial infrastructure development in 35 localities.
Speaking to the media after a tour of the Western and Central Regions, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah indicated his Ministry’s resolve to terminate the contracts of some contractors was lackadaisical.

The Minister has noted that some contractors purposely delay the project in order to obtain additional payments from the government, and he has stated that the Ministry will not tolerate such behavior.
“Some have performed well, while others have not. Where things have not gone well, we have put procedures in place to ensure that no one frustrates the government or the people who should be enjoying these developments. We have observed that several contractors who have an agreement with the government to work have failed to deliver as necessary, despite being paid what they need under the agreement.”
