Former Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng has embarked on a new phase of his football career by establishing his own player agency, Rookie & Champ.
After retiring from professional football, Boateng is now dedicating his efforts to mentoring aspiring players, beginning in his native Berlin, with plans to extend his reach internationally.
During his address at the TransferRoom Summit, Boateng recounted a pivotal moment from the early days of his career: “I turned professional at eighteen. I was that young man—full of energy and dreams. Then I was sent to Tottenham, and just ten days later, the coach informed me that he didn’t want me.”
This experience, he noted, had a profound effect on him and now fuels his determination to provide the guidance he lacked to young athletes.
“Money, fame, and joining a big club aren’t always the right choices. That’s why I’m sharing my experiences. I want to support my players,” he stated.
With Rookie & Champ, Boateng aims to go beyond just technical training. He is committed to equipping players with the mental and emotional resilience needed to handle the demands of professional sports.
“You have a Rookie & Champ player at eighteen—he’s prepared. He can face fifty thousand spectators and take that penalty,” he asserted.
In a moment of candid reflection, Boateng remarked, “Had I received this kind of support, I would have played ten consecutive years at Real Madrid. No question about it.”
