The Ministry of the Interior, in partnership with the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Office of the President, has declared the initiation of the vetting process for granting citizenship to members of the “Historic Diaspora Community.”
The vetting will commence on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Dubois Centre located in Cantonments, Accra, with applicants being scheduled in groups.
The Ministry has urged applicants to await official notification regarding their vetting schedule prior to visiting the centre to avoid overcrowding.
The Ministry has indicated that, due to the high volume of applicants and the limited time available before the ceremonial swearing-in set for March 5, 2026, not all interested individuals will be able to take part in the process.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the Interior Ministry remarked, “Applicants are also encouraged to wait for notification regarding their vetting schedule from the Ministry before coming to the centre to prevent overcrowding.
The Ministry recognizes that, given the significant number of applicants and the restricted timeframe leading up to the ceremonial swearing-in on 5th March, 2026, not all interested individuals will have the opportunity to engage in the process.”
This initiative is part of Ghana’s ongoing efforts to enhance ties with its diaspora and to formally acknowledge individuals of Ghanaian heritage who have made significant contributions abroad.
