President John Dramani Mahama is expected to grant a two-year extension to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, following a recommendation from the Police Council.
This extension will permit IGP Yohuno to persist in his leadership of the Ghana Police Service as it advances ongoing reforms and fortifies national security operations.
Sources suggest that this decision is intended to ensure continuity in security management and to maintain the progress made under his leadership.
Having been appointed earlier this year, IGP Yohuno has been recognized for increasing police visibility, enhancing crime response strategies, and promoting community-policing initiatives throughout the nation. He was initially anticipated to retire in December 2025.
Although the confirmation has not yet been officially made, the extension will allow IGP Yohuno to continue supervising essential security programs, modernization initiatives, and personnel development within the service.
