Hohoe United Football Club head coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru says playing against Accra Hearts of Oak is something that is special considering his history with the Phobian Club.
Bashiru served as an assistant head coach and as interim head coach for the Phobians before his exit and eventually taking up the Hohoe United head coaching job. Bashiru spent the 2024-2025 season coaching Young Apostles FC.

Hohoe United will face Hearts of Oak this evening at 19:00 GMT at the University of Ghana Stadium, kicking off the 2025–2026 Ghana Premier League season. For Hohoe United head coach Bashiru, the match holds deep personal significance, as he returns to face the club where he spent several years as a player.
“It feels good to go back,” Bashiru shared in a pre-match interview with the club’s media. “I always say I didn’t finish what I started at Hearts of Oak, so this game means a lot to me—and to the people of Hohoe as well. We’re definitely going all out on Friday.”
Hohoe United earned promotion to the Ghana Premier League after winning the Access Bank Division One Zone Three.
