The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared that Ghana’s Embassy in Tehran, Iran, will recommence operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, after several months of temporary closure.
The Embassy was closed on June 16, 2025, as a precautionary step to protect staff amid increased tensions between Iran and Israel.
In a statement released on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the ministry clarified that the decision to reopen the Embassy is based on notable improvements in the security conditions in Iran.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public that with the enhancement of the security situation in Iran, a decision has been made for the Embassy to resume its operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025,” the statement indicated.
The Ministry assured that it will persist in closely monitoring developments to ensure the safety of staff at the mission as well as members of the Ghanaian community in Iran.
It also reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding Ghanaians abroad and is committed to providing periodic updates as necessary.
