President John Dramani Mahama has guaranteed international investors that Ghana is entirely accessible for business at all hours.
During his address to government officials and business leaders at the 8th Africa–Singapore Business Forum on Tuesday, 26 August, he stated that Ghana’s economic approach is centered on productivity, exports, and job creation.
“Our economic approach is based on productivity, exports, and employment. We refer to it as the 24-hour economy for a reason. Ghana is available for business 24 hours a day,” President Mahama remarked.
He elaborated that the government is implementing infrastructure, incentives, and skills training to assist businesses that wish to operate continuously — including factories, farms, sports facilities, and service centers.
A significant component of the strategy is the Volta Economic Corridor, which the president characterized as Ghana’s most ambitious development initiative to date. It is founded on four pillars:
- Irrigating over two million hectares for year-round agriculture.
- Establishing agro-industrial parks for textiles, pharmaceuticals, and food processing.
- Enhancing tourism and hospitality around Lake Volta.
- Transforming Lake Volta into a transport backbone to lower logistics costs and link factories to markets.
President Mahama indicated that these initiatives are being bolstered by major projects such as the Legon Pharmaceutical Innovation Park, the Kumasi Machinery and Technology Park, the Akosombo and Juapong Garments and Textiles Park, Digital TVET Centres of Excellence, and Renewable Corridors.
