Kofi Akpaloo, the presidential candidate and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has reportedly been apprehended by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Sources from his family have verified the arrest, although the reasons behind his detention remain ambiguous. They revealed that Mr. Akpaloo was taken from his residence in Kumasi, and his current location is unknown.
EOCO has not yet released an official statement, which leaves the details surrounding the arrest unclear.
Mr. Akpaloo, who participated in the 2024 general elections, is a well-known figure in Ghana’s political arena. He has focused his campaign on policies designed to attract young voters, and despite his party being relatively small, it has gradually increased its presence in national politics.
