The Electoral Commission (EC) has declined a request by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for a live broadcast of a meeting to discuss findings and observations contained in the Provisional Voters Register (PVR) for the upcoming December 7 general elections.
The NDC wrote to the EC, requesting that the meeting to review the anomalies raised in the provisional voter register be televised live to guarantee openness.
However, in response to the NDC’s request, the EC in a statement explained that the differences raised by the party are not new, hence a live broadcast of the meeting is unnecessary.
The EC further stated that it is committed to “free, fair, transparent, peaceful, and credible elections.” However, the Commission rejects the idea for a live broadcast of this meeting. Our staff is ready to meet with your team at the scheduled time.”
