President Nana Akufo-Addo has sworn into office Dr George Akuffo Dampare as the substantive Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
On Friday, October 8, 2021, the ceremony was held at the jubilee house and was graced by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, top officials from the Police Service, and other high-profile personalities.
COP Dr Dampare was appointed as Acting IGP effective from August 1, 2021, to replace James Oppong-Boanuh who was due for retirement.
He will be Ghana’s 23rd IGP, once the necessary validation processes are completed.
The 51-year-old, until this appointment, was the Director-General in charge of Administration at the Ghana Police Service. With about 30 years of active service, he has risen from the rank of constable to the current portfolio.
