Some delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Berekum East Constituency of the Bono Region have rejected assertions that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia lacks support from the grassroots in advance of the party’s presidential primaries.
The delegates assert that the former Vice President is the most viable candidate capable of steering the party towards success in the 2028 general elections.
One delegate remarked that the enthusiasm for Dr. Bawumia within the constituency is unparalleled.
“He is the sole candidate that Ghanaians will endorse. The error we made in Berekum East will not be repeated. Despite the presence of five contenders, Dr. Bawumia will secure victory by a significant margin,” the delegate expressed.
Another delegate, who acts as an electoral area coordinator in the region, stated that the former Vice President’s commitment and performance for the party will be duly recognized.
“Dr. Bawumia’s contributions, especially during the election petition, have not been overlooked. We are assured that he will effectively counter the opposition upon his victory,” the coordinator remarked.
At the Kankaba polling station, the women’s organizer highlighted that all 17 polling station executives there have pledged their support for the Vice President.
“The assertions that Dr. Bawumia lacks grassroots backing are unfounded. We are convinced he is the candidate who can secure power for the NPP in 2028,” she added.
Another delegate called on the party to permit Dr. Bawumia to carry on the policies of President Akufo-Addo, emphasizing that his leadership would foster inclusive development.
Dr. Bawumia is wrapping up his campaign tour of the Bono Region today, with concluding visits to the Bono East, Sunyani West, and Sunyani East constituencies.
