The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, has delivered a sharp criticism of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, labeling him as the ‘quintessence of deceit’ and accusing him of evading accountability for the economic downturn in Ghana.
In a discussion with Umaru Sanda Amadu, Kwetey challenged Dr. Bawumia’s integrity and effectiveness as the leader of the Economic Management Team during the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
‘Bawumia exemplifies deception. This is a fact. Throughout his tenure, he prioritized manipulation over honesty. He lacked the fortitude to admit that the economy was mismanaged.
As the head of the Economic Management Team, his role was not merely symbolic; he was in command,’ Kwetey stated. He further accused Dr. Bawumia of avoiding responsibility as Ghana’s economy deteriorated.
‘When the time came to confront the challenges, he distanced himself, feigning ignorance and claiming he was not responsible.
This alone indicates a lack of leadership; it reveals cowardice,’ he remarked. Kwetey concluded by expressing skepticism regarding Dr. Bawumia’s suitability for higher office.
‘If you lack a sense of responsibility and cannot accept accountability, you should not aspire to lead any nation. Such moral weakness disqualifies you from leadership,’ he asserted.
