The outgoing President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is scheduled to present his final State of the Nation Address (SONA).
He will speak to the nation from Parliament House on Friday, January 3, 2025, prior to the dissolution of the 8th Parliament.
In his address, the President is anticipated to offer insights into the current condition of the country, addressing various economic sectors, before transferring power to the newly elected President, John Mahama.
Additionally, the 8th Parliament will be dissolved on the evening of Monday, January 6, paving the way for the inauguration of the 9th Parliament on the same day.
This occasion will also feature the election of the new Speaker of Parliament and two deputy speakers, who are expected to take their oaths of office at midnight.
This arrangement is designed to enable the new administration, led by John Mahama, to begin its duties without delay.
