The Member of Parliament representing Atwima Nwabiagya North, Frank Yeboah, has vehemently condemned the government’s allocation of GHS100 million for the completion of 10 Agenda 111 hospital projects, asserting that the funding is so minimal that it would require nearly two centuries to finalize the initiative.
During the debate on the 2026 budget on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, the MP stated that each hospital under the Agenda 111 programme is projected to cost approximately GHS170 million, resulting in a total estimated cost of around GHS19.26 billion for the ten projects.
He contended that the GHS100 million allocation is “grossly insufficient” and inadequate to facilitate any significant advancement.
“If you divide GHS19.26 billion by the 100 million that the finance minister has allocated, it indicates that if we proceed at this rate for the completion of the Agenda 111 project, the project will not be completed until the year 2219, which is 193 years from now. Why is the NDC government not prioritizing the health centres in this country?” he inquired.
Frank Yeboah cautioned that without a substantial financial commitment, the hospitals may remain as perpetual construction sites, depriving many communities of essential healthcare services.
The Agenda 111 project was launched by the previous administration in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, after it was noted that over 100 districts and several regional capitals were without hospitals. Although construction commenced under the former government, most of the facilities are still incomplete.
Since assuming office, the minority has accused the current administration of neglecting the projects. However, the government maintains that it is dedicated to completing all Agenda 111 facilities and that the 2026 budget reflects ongoing efforts to achieve this.
