A second-year student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has tragically passed away after falling from the second floor of his off-campus accommodation.
This information was confirmed through a statement released by the KNUST Management.
In the statement, the management expressed profound sorrow upon learning of the death of one of its students, Mr. Ransford Amankwah Asomani, who was enrolled in the BSc Agribusiness Management programme.
Preliminary reports indicate that Mr. Asomani fell from the second floor of an off-campus hostel located in Ayeduase during the early hours of Sunday, February 8, 2026.
He was promptly transported to the KNUST Hospital by his peers, with assistance from the KNUST District Police Patrol Team; however, he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival. His parents have been notified, and his remains have been placed in the Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy.
“Management is profoundly saddened by this tragic event and extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Ransford Amankwah Asomani, as well as to the entire University community.
“The KNUST Police, in conjunction with the university’s security services, has initiated an investigation into the incident. Management will provide additional updates to the media and the public as soon as all relevant facts are ascertained. KNUST remains dedicated to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of all students and staff,” the statement concluded.
