Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has commended Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, for his policies which have the potential to propel national development.
At a mini rally in Abuakwa South on Wednesday 27th November, 2024, the former President urged voters to back Dr Bawumia, highlighting his vision and policies as crucial for Ghana’s advancement.

He aims to establish a government that is inclusive. Ghanaians will find relief from their suffering thanks to his policies. He stated, “I have heard all the discussions about their policies, but none of them are as impressive as Bawumia’s.
“Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has refused to stay silent on the 2024 general elections despite criticism for endorsing Dr. Bawumia, dismissing calls to refrain from making comments.
Critics, such as Movement for Change’s Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, had advised the ex-president against making public endorsements due to his role as a statesman.
During a campaign event at the Ofori Panin Palace on November 27, Former President John Agyekum Kufuor reaffirmed his support for Dr. Bawumia, standing alongside NPP running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh in the Abuakwa South constituency.
He reaffirmed his confidence in Bawumia’s leadership skills and called on the Ghanaian population to back the NPP in the approaching elections.
