The 40th edition of National Farmers’ Day is scheduled to be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, in the Greater Accra Region as announced by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

This year’s theme highlights the country’s dedication to implementing agricultural practices that tackle the increasing difficulties brought about by climate change, aiming to create a more sustainable food security.
The Ministry announced Agrifest Ghana 2024, a five-day National Agricultural Fair scheduled from November 4 to November 8, as part of the events leading up to Farmers’ Day in a statement released on Wednesday, October 23.
This event will highlight Ghana’s abundant agricultural heritage and provide a dynamic opportunity for sharing knowledge and fostering innovation by uniting farmers and stakeholders nationwide.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will honor exceptional farmers in 16 award categories during the National Awards Night on November 8, marking the culmination of the celebration.
Some of the prestigious awards presented include the Overall National Best Farmer, National Best Livestock Farmer, and National Best Female Farmer, recognizing the vital contributions of farmers to the country’s agricultural industry.
On National Farmers’ Day, the Ministry aims to promote dialogue and encourage farmers to adopt best practices for sustainable agriculture in response to environmental changes.
This year’s event, which is typically held in December, has been rescheduled to November because of the impending 2024 general elections.
