The GFA President, Kurt E. S. Okraku has publicly scolded the Black Stars players for their disappointing display on the pitch. Kurt Okraku’s comment came after Ghana’s recent struggles in international competitions.
He expressed his disappointments and frustrations saying: “We are not getting the desired results because of the lack of commitment and dedication from some of our players.” Okraku said in an interview. “It is unacceptable to see players who are not giving their all to the national team.”
Okraku calls to action by urging all players to take responsibility and step up their game. “We need players who are passionate about wearing the Black Star jersey, and not just those who see it as an opportunity to gain fame and fortune”, he said.
The GFA president specifically criticized the attitude of some players, stating: “some players feel they are above the team and don’t need to work hard. That mentality must change.”
Okuraku’s comments have sparked debate among fans and pundits, with some questioning whether public criticism will motivate the players or further dent team morals.
Black Stars captain, Jordan Ayew, responded to Okraku’s comments, saying: “we understand the frustration, but we need support, not criticism. We are working hard to improve.”
Okraku’s comments also put pressure on the coaching staff, led by Coach Otoo Addo. “We will review the technical team’s performance and make necessary changes.” Okraku hinted.
Okraku outlined plans to strengthen player discipline and accountability, enhance coaching staff and improve preparation and strategy.
The GFA president’s scolding reflects the growing frustration among Ghanaian football fans. Will Okraku’s tough love approach inspire the Black Stars to rediscover their winning ways or will it create more division within the team?
