The current New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency, Kwadwo Asante has declared his intention to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Boafo Kwadwo Asante lost the NPP Parliamentary primary in 27 January, 2024 to Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa, by 179 votes.
Frank Asiedu Bekoe polled 496 votes and Kwadwo Asante polled 320 votes out of the total valid ballots cast in the party’s January parliamentary primary.
Despite his defeat, his fans have urged him to run as an independent parliamentary candidate in the 2024 election.
Addressing his supporters after a Health Walk on Sunday, September 1 at the Suhum Amponsah Market, Kwadwo Asante officially declared his intention to contest as an independent candidate and stated that he was heeding the call of his constituents to continue his developmental work in the area.
According to sources close to the NPP, high-ranking party leaders attempted to persuade Kwadwo Asante to reverse his decision but to no avail.
