Two students of the Twifo Praso Senior High School (SHS) have been arrested by the police for mobilising their colleagues to lynch a spiritualist who had accused one of them of stealing a mobile phone.

They are in police arrest after reportedly mobilising their gang to lynch the spiritualist, Abdul Latif.

Abdul Latif, a spiritualist, is reported to have disclosed and accused one of them of stealing a junior student’s mobile phone.

The junior student’s phone had gone stolen, and the classmates reportedly sought the help of a spiritualist to determine who stole it.

When the spiritualist Abdul Latif accused one of the students of being the one who stole the phone, he reportedly mobilised his gang of approximately ten people, who ambushed and attacked Abdul Latif, beating him severely till he died.

The incident occurred on Wednesday [August 21, 2024] at approximately 8 p.m.

They then took his body to a bush and covered it with weeds.

The body was seized by police and taken to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.

The incident sparked outrage among some youth in Twifo Praso, who planned to storm the school campus for revenge.

However, prompt action by the police prevented violence.

It took reinforcement teams from the Central North Regional Police Command to maintain order and ensure peace in the area.

Father of the deceased Yaw Nkrumah,  stated that following the phone incident, his son was attacked twice by some of the school’s students, but he was able to confront them and escape unharmed on both occasions.
