Parliament will inaugurate a new Parliamentary Museum to the public on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, as part of its comprehensive efforts to preserve and exhibit Ghana’s legislative heritage.
In a statement released on Thursday, September 17, Parliament announced that the Museum will be accessible to visitors from Monday through Friday, between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm.
The facility, established as a legacy project of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, showcases historical photographs, parliamentary documents, records of previous proceedings, artefacts and memorabilia connected to former Speakers of Parliament.
The Museum further houses archival materials pertaining to the Legislative Council and Ghana’s constitutional achievements, alongside ceremonial objects and interactive multimedia presentations illustrating the legislative process and the evolution of governance.
Parliament indicated that the Museum will furnish students and researchers with educational materials concerning the nation’s parliamentary and constitutional advancement, whilst providing tourists and cultural enthusiasts with an additional cultural heritage destination.
Members of Parliament and parliamentary personnel will likewise have access to the facility as a depository for maintaining institutional knowledge.
The Museum will additionally afford international partners and other legislative bodies the opportunity to explore Ghana’s democratic legacy, Parliament stated.
Members of the general public desiring to visit must make reservations through Parliament’s official website by selecting “Visit”, then “Museum”, and submitting the online application.
Applicants will receive notification upon approval of their requests.
Parliament affirmed that the establishment of the Museum demonstrates its dedication to civic education, transparency and safeguarding Ghana’s legislative history for subsequent generations.
