President John Dramani Mahama has asserted that occupying a high office does not inherently signify that an individual is a person of faith, emphasizing that true faith is measured by character and actions rather than by titles, wealth, or status.
“Being President does not demonstrate that I am a man of faith. It is my character and my deeds that will affirm that I am a man of faith,” President Mahama stated on Saturday, July 4, 2026, while speaking at the Men’s Ministry Faith Conference of the Assemblies of God Church at the Gomoa Pentecost Convention Centre.
He encouraged Ghanaians to express their faith through integrity, accountability, and service, noting that the manner in which individuals treat their spouses, raise their children, manage public resources, speak about others, and contribute to their communities reflects the genuineness of their beliefs.
The President highlighted the necessity for every generation to have men of faith and stressed that authentic faith is grounded in obedience to God, integrity of character, love for family, and service to others.
He also addressed the challenges facing families and society, such as moral ambiguity, shifting values, and the decline of the extended family support system, urging citizens to remain resolute in their faith and uphold strong family values.
“Your character is a reflection of your faith,” President Mahama remarked.
