Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged party supporters who have not yet received appointments to remain composed and exercise patience, emphasizing that the number of appointments available under the current administration is limited.
Asiedu Nketia stated that it is practically unfeasible to appoint all deserving members simultaneously due to the constitutional limitations on the number of appointments the president is authorized to make.
While addressing party loyalists during a meeting in Winneba, located in the Effutu Constituency, on Thursday, February 12, Asiedu Nketia recognized the frustrations expressed by some members and sought to reassure them that their concerns are acknowledged and valued by the party leadership.
“I understand that some of you are dissatisfied because you have not been appointed to any position following our return to power. This is completely understandable. This is why I am undertaking the ‘Thank You Tour’ to clarify issues and ensure your understanding.
“The difficulty lies in the fact that, given the number of appointments permitted by the constitution for President Mahama to make, not all members of the NDC can be accommodated. Therefore, I ask for your patience. There is no reason to harbor anger towards the party.”
He also encouraged party members to refrain from expressing anger or public criticism and instead utilize established internal channels to address any grievances they may have.
He asserted that constructive engagement within the party’s structures is the most effective means of resolving any outstanding issues.
Asiedu Nketia is presently touring the Central Region as part of the NDC’s post-election outreach efforts.
