Majority Chief Whip, Rockson Nelson-Dafeamekpor, has expressed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is dissatisfied with the Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn the Tamale High Court’s decision for a rerun of the Kpandai elections.
The ruling from the Tamale High Court invalidated Matthew Nyindam’s election as a Member of Parliament.
However, in a 4-2 majority ruling on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the Supreme Court annulled the order for the elections to be rerun.
In response to the court’s ruling, Rockson Nelson-Dafemeakpor stated, “As a party, we are displeased with this decision, and we will counsel our candidate on the appropriate next steps. The court is a venue of equity and law.”
He emphasized that the NDC will await the certified copy of the ruling, review it, and determine its subsequent actions.
He urged NDC supporters to remain composed and exercise patience, as the legal struggle is not yet concluded.
“When the Tamale court ruled in our favor, they labeled it a Kangaroo court. Now that they have received a favorable ruling, they are extolling the court’s virtues.
“We are law-abiding citizens, and we encourage our numerous supporters to stay calm. This issue is not resolved. The court’s ruling will be filed by February 6, and once we obtain the ruling and the certified true copy, we will deliberate and advise ourselves,” he remarked.
“There is an option for review, so this matter is far from over. The NPP should not assume this is the conclusion. It is not over,” Dafeamekpor asserted.
