Background
Numerous mediation committees and initiatives have been engaged in the protracted Bawku conflict, which mainly revolves around a chieftaincy and ethnic dispute between the Kusasi and Mamprusi communities.
Key mediation organizations consist of historically established government committees, a local inter-ethnic peace committee, the National Peace Council, and a high-level, continuous initiative spearheaded by the Asantehene.
