Telecommunication companies throughout Ghana have commenced the execution of a government mandate to enhance data bundle offerings by 10 to 15 percent, starting Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
This initiative is a response to widespread public grievances regarding the elevated costs of internet services and seeks to deliver greater value to subscribers. The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, which has led this initiative, states that this adjustment is part of a larger strategy to enhance digital accessibility and affordability.
Under the new policy, mobile network providers MTN, Telecel, and AT have adjusted their data bundles upwards. Both AT and Telecel have increased data volumes by 10 percent across all bundles, while MTN has augmented its allocations by 15 percent.
Notable modifications have been made to high-tier plans. AT’s GHC400 package now provides 236GB, an increase from 195GB. Telecel has elevated its GHC400 bundle to 250GB, a significant rise from 90GB.
MTN has reinstated its GHC399 package, which now includes 214GB, in contrast to the 92.88GB that was previously part of a GHC350 plan.
Sector Minister Sam George has instructed the National Communications Authority (NCA) to ensure rigorous compliance, cautioning that non-compliant telecommunications companies will incur penalties.
In anticipation of the implementation, mobile operators have begun informing customers about the revised pricing structures, in accordance with the government’s directive.
