The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has successfully obtained a UK visa for medical treatment for Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang, a girl who was unintentionally shot in the eye by a classmate.
Furthermore, two caregivers accompanying her on the medical journey have also been granted their visas.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced this development via a Facebook post, indicating that the Ghana High Commission in the UK has been directed to extend special consular privileges to Suzzy and her caregivers.
Mr. Ablakwa also expressed gratitude to businessman Ibrahim Mahama for covering the full cost of Suzzy’s medical treatment in the UK. Suzzy, a second-year student at Adventist SHS in Bantama, Ashanti Region, was shot in the eye by a male classmate who allegedly discharged a weapon he had brought to class on Friday, April 4, 2025.
The decision for medical treatment abroad was made following confirmation by doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) of significant injuries to her eye, necessitating an urgent surgical operation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ablakwa commended Suzzy for her bravery and encouraged her to remain resilient during her recovery.
