A catastrophic fire erupted early on Wednesday morning, January 29, behind the Trinity Gas filling station in Dzorwulu, resulting in significant damage to multiple properties.
The inferno quickly spread throughout the vicinity, consuming a number of wooden buildings and obliterating valuable possessions.
Authorities, along with local residents, are investigating the precise origin of the fire; however, preliminary reports indicate that it may have originated from a Nigerian restaurant situated behind Awo’s Unisex Boutique.
Witnesses reported that the fire ignited abruptly, engulfing the restaurant and extending to adjacent structures, which included various shops and businesses in the vicinity.
As word of the fire circulated, community members hurried to the location to provide assistance, with many attempting to recover belongings from the affected wooden buildings before they were entirely lost to the flames.
The Ghana National Fire Service reacted swiftly to the emergency alert, with fire trucks arriving at the scene within 15 minutes of the fire being reported.
Firefighters engaged in efforts to control the blaze, striving to prevent it from spreading to other commercial establishments.
