The Finance Minister-designate, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has committed to prioritizing efficiency and fiscal responsibility in the management of state resources.
During his vetting session with the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Dr. Forson underscored the necessity of eliminating wasteful government expenditures as a fundamental strategy for stabilizing the nation’s economy.
He expressed his dedication to ensuring the prudent use of Ghana’s resources, emphasizing that unnecessary spending must be reduced.
“Governance should not revolve around incessant borrowing,” Dr. Forson remarked. “It is imperative to eliminate waste, and I will spearhead this initiative.”
Additionally, Dr. Forson recognized the significance of collaborating with development partners to obtain affordable financing when required.
He assured the Committee that while his primary focus is on minimizing waste, he is also willing to engage with partners to secure low-cost funding if the situation demands.
