Mahama’s victory a time of honor for Africa – Tinubu

The President of Nigeria, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, has praised the election of President John Dramani Mahama as a significant achievement and a point of pride for Ghana, Africa, and the global African community.

In his keynote address as the distinguished guest at Mahama’s inauguration on Tuesday, January 7, at the Black Star Square in Accra, Tinubu characterized the occasion as an inspiring moment for the continent.

During his speech, Tinubu acknowledged the dedication of the Ghanaian populace to democracy and the peaceful transfer of power, emphasizing that Mahama’s success embodies the shared aspirations of not only Ghanaians but also Africans around the world.

The Nigerian President further took the opportunity to underscore the necessity of unity throughout Africa. He called upon African leaders and citizens to collaborate in resolving conflicts amicably, to strengthen the ties of brotherhood, and to resist external forces that aim to create division.

“This is a moment of pride and honour for Ghanaians, the entire continent, and the diaspora. The sun is shining and the sky is clear, yet I perceive a brilliant black star ascending in the African skies, symbolizing a shared history of hope, unity, compassion, and commitment to our collective well-being.

“While some may attempt to belittle Africa, that shining star serves as a reminder of our identity and potential, urging us to strive for collaboration even amidst disagreements. We must choose the path of peaceful dialogue, refrain from causing harm to our brothers, and not permit any external entity to disrupt our bonds of brotherhood.”
