An 11-member Ministerial Oversight Committee has been established by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, to oversee Ghana’s preparations and involvement in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, November 26. In his address, Mr. Debrah urged the committee to fulfill its responsibilities with integrity and complete dedication to ensure effective coordination in advance of the tournament.
He also encouraged the members to look beyond the realm of football and consider the broader opportunities that the World Cup offers.
Ghana achieved qualification for the prestigious event with a narrow 1–0 win against Comoros on Sunday, October 12, in Accra, marking the Black Stars’ fifth World Cup appearance since 2006.
During the inauguration of the committee, the Chief of Staff reiterated his appeal for diligence and integrity from all members.

In the meantime, the government has allocated GH¢150 million to support the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, made this announcement on Thursday, November 13, during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament.
As stated by Dr. Forson, the distribution highlights the government’s dedication to the advancement of sports and the representation of the nation on an international level. The financial resources are anticipated to aid the Black Stars in their preparations, logistics, and involvement in the tournament that will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
