President John Dramani Mahama has directed Maripoma Enterprise Limited, the contractors engaged in the Ofankor–Nsawam road project, to emphasize the use of high-quality materials in the current construction work.
This instruction was issued during his site visit on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, accompanied by the Minister of Roads, Governs Agbodza.
The Ofankor–Nsawam project recommenced in April 2025 following a four-month halt due to alleged payment issues.
Mr. Mahama encouraged the contractors to expedite their efforts to alleviate the significant traffic congestion along the route.
“As the government pledges to compensate you adequately, you must also commit to accelerating the work on the road and utilizing quality materials. A significant issue with road contractors in this nation is the standard of materials used.
You construct the road, and shortly thereafter, it begins to deteriorate. Your company is recognized as one of the leading contracting firms globally. We anticipate that this will reflect the quality of your brand,” he stated.
Ing. Kwabena Bimpong, Chief Resident Engineer for the Rehabilitation of the Ofankor–Nsawam Road (Dual Carriage), assured the government that the project would reach completion by the second quarter of 2026.
