A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the community of Amuana Praso in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region, where a 42-year-old nursing mother, Grace Amanuwaa, has drowned in a pond. Grace had reportedly gone to fetch water from the pond — a vital source of water for many in the area — when the unfortunate incident occurred. Her sudden passing has left loved ones and the entire community in deep sorrow, as they mourn the loss of a mother, neighbor, and friend who was simply going about her daily duties to care for her family.
Grace’s sister, Akua Boatemaa, shared with Adom News that Grace had lived with epilepsy for years. It is believed that she may have suffered a seizure while fetching water, which tragically led to her drowning.
Her lifeless body was later retrieved and has since been taken to the mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
Grace leaves behind a devastated family, including her grieving husband, Kwabena Ayigbe, who was working on his farm at the time of the incident. Overwhelmed with sorrow, he has appealed to the Ghana Police Service to release his wife’s body so the family can give her a dignified burial and begin the difficult journey of healing.
