President John Dramani Mahama is anticipated to receive the final report from the Constitutional Review Committee today, Monday, December 22, at the Presidency in Accra.
The committee, led by Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, Executive Director of the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), was tasked with reviewing the 1992 Constitution and suggesting reforms to enhance Ghana’s democratic governance framework.
The report presentation, set for 2:00 p.m., concludes several months of nationwide consultations and technical analysis carried out by the eight-member committee.
Other members of the committee include Justice Sophia Adinyira, a retired Supreme Court Justice; Professor Kwame Karikari; former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei; Dr. Godwin Djokoto; Ibrahim Tanko Amidu; Dr. Esi Ansah; and Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya.
Although the committee was inaugurated on January 30 with an initial deadline of August, the extensive and intricate submissions received from the public necessitated a three-month extension to allow the panel to finalize its work.
