The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has declared that the results for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) are expected to be published by December 29, 2024.
This announcement was made following Dr. Adutwum’s visit to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) printing facility. The visit occurred after WAEC disclosed that the release of the results had been postponed due to a malfunction of the scanners.
WAEC further indicated that the government’s outstanding financial obligations had impeded its capacity to repair or acquire new scanners, which has exacerbated the delay.
In light of these issues, the Ministry of Education has allocated GH¢25 million to assist WAEC in enhancing its printing operations.
After the visit, Dr. Adutwum expressed his contentment with the progress and dedication demonstrated by WAEC, assuring that the results would be released punctually.
“Earlier today, we toured WAEC, and we have observed their ongoing efforts. By December 29 or sooner, the examination results will be available, enabling universities to proceed with the admission process for students seeking to enroll in various degree and diploma programs.
“I was accompanied by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, and we are pleased with the level of readiness and the work being undertaken by WAEC. We appreciate their commitment, especially as their staff continues to work diligently around the clock during this period to ensure that the results are released, allowing our students to advance in their education.”
