Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has declared that the recruitment processes for the Prisons, Immigration, Police, and Fire Service will be entirely digitized to eliminate manual queues and avert further tragedies during national enlistment exercises.
In a statement to journalists on Friday, November 14, the Minister indicated that the new system will substitute paper-based procedures with an online application platform aimed at streamlining and harmonizing recruitment across the security services.
“Our aspiration is to establish a seamless process. Everything will transition from paper to a paperless format. You will be able to initiate and complete the process using your mobile phone from the comfort of your home with the code that will be released on Sunday, November 16.
“The system we are developing is a robust, centralized e-recruitment portal to ensure harmonization,” he assured.
This announcement comes in the wake of the tragic stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium during the military recruitment exercise, which resulted in 28 applicants being affected—12 in critical condition, five in the intensive care unit, and six confirmed deceased. A similar incident in Kumasi led to five additional injuries.
Mr. Muntaka Mubarak stated that the shift to a fully digital, end-to-end recruitment system is anticipated to significantly alleviate congestion, enhance safety, and improve efficiency in future national recruitment exercises.
