The Volta Regional Police Command has achieved a significant milestone in its battle against drug trafficking, following the interception of a vehicle suspected of transporting narcotic substances along the Accra-Aflao road on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
In a meticulously coordinated intelligence-led operation, police officers intercepted a black Liberty Jeep with the registration number FK692KF near Kpotame, close to Sogakorpe. The driver, identified as Charles Adenkule, a 46-year-old Nigerian national, was apprehended and is currently cooperating with the investigation.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of ten (10) parcels of compressed substances believed to be cocaine, each weighing approximately one kilogram. The estimated street value of the confiscated substances is GHC 1,032,650.00. Additionally, around half a kilogram of compressed dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, was discovered concealed behind the inner lining of the vehicle’s boot.
The Regional Police Commander, DCOP/Mr. Wisdom Akorli, who received the intelligence from the director of the police intelligence unit, deployed a combined team of officers.
The seized items are scheduled to be sent to the Forensic Laboratory for examination and analysis. The Volta Regional Police Command reaffirms its dedication to fighting drug trafficking and other criminal activities, urging the public to continue providing reliable information to aid policing efforts.
