The leadership of the National Service Authority (NSA) has commenced talks with the Military High Command regarding the rollout of the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP), a new initiative designed to provide National Service Personnel (NSPs) with fundamental military training.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in alignment with President John Dramani Mahama’s dedication to fostering discipline, nationalism, and physical fitness among Ghanaian graduates.
The President initially introduced this initiative during his inaugural State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
During the meeting, NSA Director-General Felix Gyamfi highlighted the significance of the training programme in cultivating a more resilient and patriotic youth demographic. He stated, “The implementation of this military training is a progressive move that should be welcomed by everyone as a key factor in revitalizing the nation, especially among the youth.”
Gyamfi further confirmed that all national service personnel will participate in basic military drills and orientation as part of their service experience, aimed at promoting a sense of national development. Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, representing the Military High Command, expressed the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to supporting the programme.
He assured the Authority of their preparedness to provide the necessary training once the programme officially commences. In total, personnel will undergo up to two months of comprehensive basic military drills, with training anticipated to begin on August 3, 2025.
