NPP Youth Wing Protests Alleged State Intimidation
Accra, Sept. 24, 2025 – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Wing held a protest in Accra on Monday to oppose what it calls growing intimidation and harassment of its members by state security agencies.
Dubbed “Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna”, the protest began at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and moved to the Police Headquarters and Jubilee House. The group submitted petitions to the Inspector-General of Police and President Mahama, accusing the government of selective justice and political bias.
The protest was sparked by the arrest of party figures such as Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC), Chairman Wontumi, and social media activists. NPP Youth Organizer Henry Nana Boakye said the party “will not be intimidated.”
Government officials say the concerns will be reviewed, but the opposition NDC dismissed the protest as a distraction from legal accountability. Civil society groups have called for calm and urged all parties to respect due process.
