President John Dramani Mahama has revealed the intentions of a private investor to set up a ferry service in Tema, which will link Ghana with other nations along the West African coastline.
During the inauguration of Phases 1 and 2 of the Tema Port Expansion Project on Thursday, November 14, the President mentioned that the planned ferries will facilitate the transportation of vehicles, passengers, and goods, thereby improving regional trade and connectivity.
“The private sector maritime operator has recently approached us with plans to create a ferry service to countries along the West African coast, based in Tema. The ferries will transport vehicles, passengers, and goods between Ghana and other West African nations,” he stated.
President Mahama further emphasized that the government will extend full support to guarantee the success of this initiative. “We will provide him with all the encouragement necessary to establish this service, enabling us to enhance the exchange of goods among our people,” he remarked.
