The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has declared the cancellation of winning bonuses for the members of the Black Stars Management Committee.
While the players will continue to receive $5,000 each as a winning bonus in the forthcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the previously allocated $10,000 package for committee members has been eliminated.
During a press briefing held in Accra on Tuesday, September 2, Mr. Adams clarified that although the budget for each match was initially established at $1 million, the Ministry has sanctioned $1.3 million to accommodate two matches.
He emphasized that management members will no longer receive bonuses linked to match outcomes but will instead be entitled to their per diems.
“If we are to pay a winning bonus for every victory, what occurs if we do not win enough games to qualify for the tournament? Under the former arrangement, management team members received winning bonuses, yet ultimately, the team did not qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.
“The players received nothing, while the managers benefited from bonuses. The president has made it clear: oversee and receive your per diem, but no winning bonus,” the Minister stated.
