President John Dramani Mahama has formally inaugurated the new governing board of the Lands Commission, assigning them the duty to supervise the Commission’s operations nationwide.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, September 2, during which President Mahama administered both the oath of office and the oath of secrecy to the newly appointed board members.
In his address to the newly formed board, President Mahama emphasized the importance of women’s representation and urged a reevaluation of the Affirmative Action Law to ensure a 30 percent representation in public offices.
This initiative follows a concern expressed by the Deputy Lands Minister, Yusif Sulemana, who pointed out the inadequate representation of women on the board, noting that the Chief Executive of the EPA, Prof. Nana Ama Klutse, is the sole female member of the board.
