Businessman and former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has made a significant gesture of generosity after a young supporter was stabbed during a political event in Kumasi.
He has pledged to pay for the full medical expenses of the injured student and to support the continuation of his education, along with that of all his siblings.
The event took place on April 29, 2025, during the National Thank You Tour organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region. The party commenced its regional activities in Abuakwa, followed by a subsequent assembly in Bantama, which united constituencies within the Kumasi Metropolitan area, such as Manhyia South, Bantama, and Oforikrom.
The Bantama assembly attracted large crowds of passionate supporters, many of whom attended to express their backing for potential party flagbearers, including Ken Agyapong.
However, what started as a celebratory political event concluded tragically when a confrontation erupted, leading to the stabbing of a young man believed to be a KNUST student and a devoted supporter of Agyapong.
He was swiftly transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he is presently receiving medical care. Ken Agyapong, moved by the situation, has not only taken care of the student’s medical expenses but has also committed to supporting the educational needs of the victim and his siblings, which many view as a significant act of compassion and leadership.
His involvement has garnered widespread acclaim as a true expression of concern for the youth and grassroots supporters of the party.
Party insiders and supporters have praised this action as indicative of Agyapong’s enduring reputation for philanthropy and his dedication to the welfare of everyday Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, authorities are looking into the events that led to the incident, as the young victim continues to recuperate in the hospital.
