Former Vice President and hopeful candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has refuted claims that he underperformed in Zongo communities during the 2024 general elections.
Dr. Bawumia characterized these claims as unfounded propaganda.
While addressing a party event in the Adansi Asokwa constituency of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Dr. Bawumia asserted that the narratives implying that Muslims and Zongo voters deserted him in the previous election lack evidential support.
“The propaganda circulating is that Muslims and the Zongo populace did not vote for Dr. Bawumia. Upon hearing this, I inquired, ‘Where is the data to substantiate these assertions?’ Because for me, if someone presents a claim, I require data to verify its accuracy,”
“Recently, a presidential candidate alleged that in the Zongos, Dr. Bawumia secured victory in only one polling station throughout the entire nation.
